Republicans have a pretty big umbrella that way, mostly because rich white guys can only buy so many votes and thus they have to broaden their appeal.

Ah, that's a common misunderstanding: "conservatives" have a list of "special oppressed groups" as well. But there's only one group on it: bible-thumping white men. After all, we know they're the "only group that you can still oppress!!!"

Sniff sniff. It's all just so unfair!

And the idea that a "conservative" has any standing to talk about logic and reason after the anal rape that the GOP has performed on pretty much every science-oriented department in the federal government demonstrates a level of denial so deep, it's eerie to even ponder.

But of course, I'm sure you're one of those "principled conservatives" who don't dismiss the last eight years as "impure conservatism", just as I'm sure there are octogenarian dead-ender Soviet holdouts, claiming that "Communism failed because it was never implemented!"

As usual, one can spot alternatives, as of the moment there is a World food crisis that means your idea does not hold any water. Corn being transformed to ethanol makes prices of food skyrocket...
Another doing small good things is not enough if you do one big harmful thing ... its either you're green or not ...

[...] Inductance is like inertia, except for electricity. You know that inertia means. It takes some effort to get something moving but, once you get going, it is actually easier to keep it going. So it goes with relationships. With inductance, you have more electrons in one place than another and they are induced to go somewhere else, like when I went green by using fruit for all my electricity. There’s a metaphor for relationships in that also. [...]
